Kristine Mietzner, Writer

Kristine Mietzner is an American writer living in Northern California. Her short play “Reservations, the Cat and Dog Comedy” premiered at the Winters Community Theater’s 10-Minute Play Festival (January 2020) .

Her writing has been published in 166 Palms (2017, 2018); Your Life is a Trip; LitroNY; Something That Matters, Life, Love, and Adventures in the Middle of the Journey; the Benicia Herald, and elsewhere.

Matisse in Winter, Kristine’s forthcoming novel, was a finalist in the adult fiction category of the San Francisco Writers Conference Writing Contest in 2013. She was awarded a scholarship to attend the Key West Literary Seminar in 2017.

She completed the Stanford University Novel Writing Certificate Program in 2015. She holds an M.S. in Education from California State University East Bay and a B.A. University of Washington, Seattle.

Kristine is retired from a 20-year career as public school teacher and reading specialist in California, including one year as an academic teacher in a state prison for men.

Before moving to California, Kristine worked in public and commercial radio and television in Anchorage, Fairbanks, Juneau, and Ketchikan, Alaska.
